Event Description

This is an interactive, technical workshop for developers, designers and technically-focused site owners focused on testing responsive designs, interactive code and structured content. Content issues are discussed more in Accessible Website Content: Advanced Topics.

Attendees will need to bring their laptop to participate.

The workshop covers:

  • What assistive technologies need from University websites and apps
  • How testing on your phone finds many design issues
  • Tools
    • University-provided tools
    • Installing and using browser plugins that can help test for accessibility
    • Contrast checking
  • Keyboard testing
  • Screen reader testing
  • Preparing for the optional Certificate in Accessibility Testing

This workshop is open to all staff creating digital content and sites. This workshop assumes some familiarity with content accessibility concepts like heading, list, link and table tags, so taking Accessible Website Content: Best Practices or Getting Started with Digital Accessibility, first is recommended.
